"What on earth do you do with yourself? Don't you just get bored? All I seem to ever talk about is bread, work and fish. What should I do to save myself from memories of him?"I pretty much ignored her latter question. I believe I answered it at the moment, but my mind was occupied with that single thought. "What on earth DO you do with yourself?"
Eric seems to be in a routine. He wakes up. Gets to uni. Goes to lectures. Sits alone. Goes to tutes. Does the work, alone. It seems as though his only highlights of his current tertiary weekly life is: Fencing, which is relatively social as he gets to befriend and hurt the same people; and his socialable Thursdays, spent with various characters from various areas. There are also lazy friday afternoons where he often enjoys doing nothing at all with a few loved friends. But this is not what Eric is most concerned about.
The real question Eric is pondering, is what on earth he thinks about all day. This good friend of his is suffering from a mixture of boredom, regret, heavy nostalgia and confusion. Before, when she was in happy-sugar-intoxicating-land, she had her other half to think about. But you Eric. What goes on in your head on a day to day basis? Are you not affected by the common trend of pairing up at all? She had asked.
Eric seems to ponder on human interaction, relations with other people, as well as buildings and various other inanimate objects; but only when he's bored. Eric likes to occupy his time watching people walk around campus. It all may sound a little silly, mainly because it's all a lie. For he doesn't do anything, just ambles around until he sees a familier face.
His head doesen't actually contain all that much. In fact it's quite empty. There are no picture frames nor any windows. Just a nice sterdy wooden chair and a old faulty video player. He sits and watches memories of the old playing over and over again.
-smuck.
You and I both know that this is all a lie. You dream of the future.
